Graded motor imagery (GMI) is becoming increasingly used in the treatment of chronic pain conditions notably Complex Regional Pain Syndrome CRPS and Phantom Limb Pain PLP. GMI is a technique used to inhibit and control pain through brain training.
1. Understand the theoretical evidence body of the GMI and its principles.
2. Understand the connection between the brain and the painful limb and how we can modify it inhibit pain
3. identify the three phases of the GMI : left/right discrimination, implicit and explicit imagery and mirror therapy.
